Vitamin D3, also known as Colecalciferol, is an essential vitamin that is obtained through diet and synthesized in the skin through exposure to sunlight.

The daily requirement is approximately 20 micrograms. From March to October, the body can typically produce this amount when about a quarter of the body surface is exposed to sunlight for five to twenty-five minutes. However, during the winter months, there is often a deficiency, which can lead to fatigue, lethargy, depression, and other health issues.
